Low Brass Performer and Teacher...Alto, Tenor, and Bass Trombones; Euphonium and Bass Trumpet
I have opted to continue to provide my students the option to study remotely, via Skype, Zoom, or FaceTime. It so happens I have an iMac in my home studio- on a wheeled desktop, that I’ve updated and set up for just that purpose. Additionally I’ve recently added an ethernet hookup to a Mackie Mixer and four microphones to the inputs for total clarity on my end.
Experience shows that if you have the ability to log in using a larger screen, an ethernet enabled-computer (wi-fi can work, but may be slower) with microphone and speakers, that is best. Since I am not in the room with you to point out musical things, I will have the exact music in front of me to direct the student where I’m referring in the music. Additionally I usually suggest that I’ll wave to the student when they are playing if I want them to stop for a brief comment or direction-owing to the possible delay in sound latency via the internet.
So if you would like to set up a lesson, please let me know. Email me at bridiehl@gmail.com or bridiehl@me.com to set up a lesson.
Having time online to investigate youtube for new live concerts, learning about new ideas, and just enjoying music is also a joyful way to become engaged. It’s also very okay to turn off our devices, put on a cd, and listen peacefully with cup of tea in front of a warm fireplace. Mozart can be calming and life-affirming!
Warmly,
Brian
